Resumen
Abstract: This work numerically solves RANS to investigate the separation bubble formation over a blunt body. The flow is considered 2D. The main goal is to analyze the turbulent flow and obtain the mean velocity and pressure fields as the ratio of the rounding radius, just upstream the separation point, to the semi-height of the body, η = R / H, is varied. The Reynolds number based upon the free-stream velocity and upon the body semi-height is set at 2,000. Turbulence closure is based upon the Boussinesq hypothesis. The Sparlart-Allmaras and the κ-ω SST models are used to calculate the turbulence parameters of interest. Both consider the Reynolds stress tensor to be isotropic. The results hereafter shows good agreement with the available numerical results.
