A transmission problem models a diffusion process in the presence of discontinuous operators. In the case where such discontinuities depend on the solutions, the transmission interface becomes a free boundary and the model is called a free transmission problem. We examine a fully nonlinear free transmission problem; our findings include information on the regularity of the solutions as well as an analysis of the associated free boundary
