Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a general dynamic theory of anisotropic thin walled beams, where the effect of shear flexibility in its whole form is considered. The theory is also developed to be used for open and closed sections in a unified fashion. The model allows to analize many kind of problems such as statics, free and. forced vibrations, vibrations with an arbitrary state of initial stress and instability. A finite element solution is developed in order to accomplish the proper parametrical analysis, showing in this way the behavior of the shear flexibility the structural member, as well as the induced material coupling. Also it is provided a set of comparisons with experimental results.
