Abstract

In this work the steady displacement of a incompressible Newtonian liquid confined in a capillary tube of radius d, by a bubble, is numerically studied. The main objective is to analyze the influence of bubble's size, capillary forces, and, principally inertial forces on the relation between the velocity of the suspended fluid and the average velocity of the continuous liquid phase, the pressure drop across the bubble (Δp) and the shape of the free surface.
