Análisis Numérico del Flujo entre Discos Rotantes

Abstract

The axialsymmetric laminar flow of a viscous fluid between a stationary disk and a rotating disk of finite dimensions is a problem with practical and theoretical interest.
The first investigations made on this topic were carried out almost completely in connection with flows among infinite disks. In this case the solution presents similarity, decreasing the number of space dimensions to one, with the rising simplification of the problem. However, has been proven that this type of solutions in the case of finite disks represents the alone physical problem appropriately for a next region to the half radius of the disks, therefore it becomes necessary a complete solution of the flow.
In the present work is studied numerically the axialsymmetric laminar flow among disks by means of a coupled quasi 3D solution. The results are compared with experimental data, showing good agreement for the range of studied parameters.
