Un Modelo Hidrodinámico para Flujo Estratificado a Superficie Libre

Pablo A. Tarela, Ángel N. Menéndez

Abstract

A two-dimensional numerical model on a vertical plane for open channel flow is presented. Using a boundary layer approximation the computations of the free surface and the velocity field are decoupled. The free surface is obtained trough a classical backwater curve calculation. The velocity calculation is a parabolic problem. It is solved by a finite element method using a new type of element. The resulting numerical scheme is highly efficient. The method is developed for laminar flow and extended to the turbulent case. The results are in agreement with experimental data.
