Abstract


A Finite Element formulation for shell analysis based on Kirchhoff-Love theory is presented, employing an 8 node, 32 d.o.f. conforming element, derived assuming a discretization of the domain following the principal directions of the curvature of the middle surface.
Results of elastostatic analysis of plates and shells, using the derived element are also presented.
