The Fifth Argentine Symposium on Software Engineering (ASSE 2004) will be
held in Córdoba, Argentina, on September 2004, will bring together
researchers, developers, and practitioners to discuss new ideas, problems
and experiences in the field of Software Engineering and Database
  Technology.

ASSE 2004 will be part of the 33rd Argentine Conference on Computer

Science

  and Operational Research (JAIIO
2004), the international conference of the Argentine Society for Computer
  Science and Operational Research
  (SADIO).

ASSE 2004 seeks original works in the wide spectrum of software
engineering,
  from academic research to industrial
and business applications with significant impact and lessons learned from
  application development. The
symposium will feature invited talks, paper and poster sessions, and
panels
presenting both mature work and new
ideas in research and applications. Submission of papers related, but not
limited to, the following topics are
  encouraged:

    a.. Requirements Engineering

a.. Software Quality: Testing, Analysis, Verification and Quality
  Assurance Activities.

    b.. Software Process

    c.. Process Maturity

    d.. Risk management

    e.. Internet and Web Software

    f.. Software Architectures

g.. Object Oriented Technology and Theory

    h.. Design Patterns

    i.. Aspect-Oriented Development

    j.. Reuse

    k.. Components and Interoperability Technologies

l.. Legal, Social and Ethical Issues

    m.. Software Understanding

    n.. Maintenance and Reverse Engineering

    o.. Metrics

    p.. Database technology

    q.. Reliability, Safety and Security

    r.. Formal methods

    s.. Tools and Development Environments

t.. Education in Database and Software Engineering

u.. Software Engineering and Database Techniques for Challenging
  Application Areas such us: Distributed
Systems, Real-Time Systems, Mobile Computing, etc.

The symposium will feature invited talks, short tutorials, paper and

poster

  sessions, and panels presenting both
mature work and new ideas in research and applications.

Submissions can be full papers addressing any topic on software

engineering

  or short papers describing ongoing
research projects at academic or development environments. All the papers
must be written in English, and they will
be reviewed by an international program committee, using criteria
appropriate to their category. Papers may be
accepted for presentation as talks, as part of a panel, or as posters.
Regular papers will be published in SADIO
