PRIMER ANUNCIO
Dentro del marco de actividades previstas en el Proyecto Aplicaciones e
Integracion Interdisciplinaria de la Matematica (PAV2003-00120),
Subproyecto 5: Matematica y Fisica: Modelizacion y Analisis Matematico de
la Transferencia de Calor y de Masa y sus Aplicaciones, que financia la
Agencia Nacional de Promocion Cientifica y Tecnologica de la Republica
Argentina (ANPCyT), del 28 de Noviembre al 8 de Diciembre de 2005 se
realizaran en Rosario, Argentina, el VII Seminario sobre Transferencia de
Energia y Masa, Problemas de Frontera Libre y Aplicaciones y el Workshop
on Mathematical Modelling of Energy and Mass Transfer Processes and
Applications.
En las Ciencias (principalmente Matematica Aplicada, Fisica, Quimica,
Geofisica/Geologia y Meteorologia) y en diferentes especialidades de la
Ingenieria, se presentan numerosos problemas de transferencia de energia y
de masa, en particular los del tipo denominado de frontera libre. Por
ejemplo:
1.- En el secado de materiales biologicos, al producirse un cambio de fase
de agua liquida a vapor de agua en el interior de granos o frutos;
2.- En el congelamiento de alimentos al pasar de agua liquida a hielo en
su interior;
3.- En la transferencia de energia en forma de calor por conduccion,
conveccion y radiacion, en particular, en el aprovechamiento de la energia
solar y en la evaluacion del recurso solar;
4.- En la solidificacion de materiales;
5.- En la congelacion de suelos;
6.- En el horneado de alimentos;
7.- En la combustion y disolucion de solidos.
Estos problemas exigen el desarrollo de diversos temas de la teoria
general de: ecuaciones diferenciales a derivadas parciales (tanto
parabolicas como elipticas), ecuaciones e inecuaciones variacionales,
ecuaciones integrales, analisis numerico, transferencia de energia y de
masa.
El avance considerable que se ha obtenido en el desarrollo teorico de
estos temas a nivel nacional e internacional y sus potenciales
aplicaciones a las mas diversas areas de la Ciencia Aplicada y de la
Tecnologia, impulsan la realizacion de este Seminario y de este Workshop.

OBJETIVOS
* El tratamiento fisico-quimico y la modelizacion matematica de problemas
de transferencia de energia y de masa relacionados con diversas
aplicaciones.
* El estudio teorico y numerico de ecuaciones diferenciales parabolicas y
elipticas con coeficientes termicos constantes y variables con la
temperatura, de ecuaciones integrales de Volterra, como asi tambien de las
ecuaciones e inecuaciones variacionales involucradas en estos procesos.
* La vinculacion con grupos de investigacion y/u otras instituciones
argentinas y extranjeras de investigacion basica y aplicada de jerarquia
internacional, en las cuales se estudien problemas analogos para realizar
un fructifero intercambio de ideas y experiencias y tratar de provocar una
util interaccion con los mismos.
* La formacion de recursos humanos, despertando el interes y promoviendo
el acercamiento de graduados, doctorandos y jovenes investigadores a las
tecnicas matematicas aplicadas a la transferencia de energia y de masa, de
fundamental importancia en un gran numero de aplicaciones practicas.
DESTINATARIOS
Graduados, profesionales y estudiantes de Matematica, Fisica (Materiales y
Energia), Quimica y Ciencias Afines e Ingenieria y ramas afines, con
conocimientos basicos sobre ecuaciones diferenciales.
ACTIVIDADES
* VII Seminario sobre Transferencia de Energia y Masa, Problemas de
Frontera Libre y Aplicaciones (Rosario, 28 de Noviembre al 3 de Diciembre
de 2005):
Mini-cursos avanzados sobre los siguientes temas: Ecuacion Diferencial del
Calor y Analisis Numerico, Fundamentos Fisicos sobre Transferencia de
Energia y Masa en Alimentos, Metalurgia, Produccion de Energia, Radiacion
Solar, Procesos Quimicos.
* Workshop on Mathematical Modelling of Energy and Mass Transfer Processes
and Applications (Rosario, 5 al 8 de Diciembre de 2005):
Conferencias dictadas por especialistas en el tema.
Comunicaciones de trabajos cientificos.
PRESENTACION DE TRABAJOS
Los interesados en exponer trabajos sobre temas afines deberan remitir los
correspondientes resumenes extendidos en espanol o ingles (de una pagina
A4, con tipografia bold Arial 11), antes del 15 de septiembre de 2005. En
dichos resumenes se debera realizar una breve resena sobre el estado del
tema al presente y describir los resultados obtenidos dando informacion lo
mas concreta posible, sobre dichos resultados. La aceptacion de trabajos
se comunicara el 15 de octubre de 2005.
PUBLICACIONES
En las Actas de la reunion se publicaran los cursos, conferencias y
resumenes de comunicaciones.
Los autores de comunicaciones interesados en publicar el trabajo completo
tendran la posibilidad de someterlos a las revistas Latin American Applied
Research o MAT - Serie A.
AYUDA ECONOMICA
Esta previsto otorgar ayuda financiera a estudiantes avanzados de grado,
estudiantes de doctorado y doctores recientes de Latinoamerica. Quienes
deseen solicitar estas becas deberan completar la ficha adjunta y enviarla
por e-mail (tem en fce.austral.edu.ar) acompanada de un breve Curriculum
Vitae y una nota de referencia antes del 15 de septiembre de 2005. Las
respuestas se enviaran durante el mes de octubre.

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
Within the frame of activities planned for the Project PAV2003-00120:
Applications and Interdisciplinary Integration of Mathematics, Subproject
# 5: Mathematics and Physics: "Modelization and Mathematical Analysis of
the Heat and Mass Transfer and its Applications", financed by the National
Agency of Scientific and Technological Promotion of Argentina (ANPCyT),
the VII School on Energy and Mass Transfer, Free Boundary Problems and
Applications and the Workshop on Mathematical Modeling of Energy and Mass
Transfer Processes and Applications will be made in Rosario, Argentina,
from November 28th to December 8th , 2005.
In Sciences (mainly Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,
Geophysics/Geology and Meteorology) and in different Engineering areas,
numerous energy and mass transfer problems appear, particularly those
denominated free boundary problems. For example:
1.- In drying of biological materials, when water changes from a liquid
phase to steam in the interior of grains or fruits;
2.- In food freezing when water changes from liquid to ice in its
interior;
3.- In heat energy transfer by conduction, convection and radiation,
particularly in solar energy and in evaluation of solar resources;
4.- In solidification of materials;
5.- In ground freezing;
6.- In food cooking;
7.- In solid combustion and dissolution.
These problems demand the development of diverse subjects of the general
theory of: Partial Differential Equations (Parabolic and Elliptical),
Variational Inequalities, Integral Equations, Numerical Analysis, Energy
and Mass Transfer.
The considerable advance in the theoretical development of these subjects
at national and international level and its potential applications to
different areas of Applied Sciences and Technology compel the achievement
of this School and this Workshop.

GOALS
* Physical-chemical treatment and mathematical modelization of energy and
mass transfer problems related to diverse applications.
* Theoretical and numerical study of parabolic and elliptical differential
equations with constant and temperature variable thermal coefficients, and
Volterra integral equations, and also of variational inequalities involved
in these processes.
* Entailment and accomplishment of agreements with research groups and/or
other Argentine and foreign basic and applied research institutions of
international level, in which analogous problems to those proposed in the
Project are studied in order to induce a useful scientific interaction.
* Formation of Doctors and young investigators in the energy and mass
transfer applied mathematical techniques, of fundamental importance in a
great number of practical applications.
RESEARCHERS/STUDENTS/ PROFESSIONALS
- Researchers and Graduates in Mathematics, Physics (Energy and Mass),
Chemistry, Engineering professionals and students (and compatible
branches), with basic knowledge on differential equations.
ACTIVITIES
* VII School on Energy and Mass Transfer, Free Boundary Problems and
Applications (Rosario, November 28th - December 3rd , 2005):
Advanced mini-courses on the following subjects: Heat Differential
Equation and Numerical Analysis, Physical Foundations in Energy and Mass
Transfer in Foods, Metallurgy, Energy Production, Solar Radiation,
Chemical Processes.
* Workshop on Mathematical Modeling of Energy and Mass Transfer Processes
and Applications (Rosario, December 5th-8th , 2005):
Lectures delivered by specialists in the subject.
Communications of scientific works.
WORKS PRESENTATION
Authors who are interested to expose his works on compatible subjects will
have to submit the corresponding extended summaries in English or Spanish
(A4 page, with typography bold Arial 11) and in pdf format, no later than
September 15th, 2005. These summaries must have a brief review about the
present state of the subject and a description of the obtained results
giving the most concrete possible information on these results. Accepted
works will be notified no later than October 15th, 2005.
PUBLICATIONS
The courses, conferences and communications will be published in the Acts
of the meeting. Those authors that are interested to publish the complete
work of its communications will have the chance to have them evaluated in
Latin American Applied Research or MAT - Serie A journals.
ECONOMIC AID
Financial aid is expected to be granted to Advanced undergraduate
students, Doctoral students and recent Doctors from Latin America. Those
who wish to ask for these scholarships will have to complete the attached
form and to send it by email (tem en fce.austral.edu.ar) accompanied by a
brief Curriculum Vitae and a reference note before September 15th, 2005.
