Lugar: Kailua/Kona, Hawaii

Dear Colleagues,

PLASTICITY 2008, will take place at Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort,
Kailua/Kona (Big Island of Hawaii) January 3-8,2008.

Within this conference Prof. C. Agelet de Saracibar and I are organizing
a mini symposium entitled (see attached letter for more details):

"Numerical simulation of Metal Forming Problems".

As a well established and widely recognized researcher in these fields,
we would like to cordially invite you to participate in this Organized
Session with an invited paper. We would be very honored if you could
accept this invitation and submit a paper of 20 minutes duration.

Should you decide to join the mini-symposium, may we ask you to send us
as soon as possible an email indicating your intention to participate? A
copy of this email should also be sent to the main organizer at
khan en umbc.edu

Abstracts can be sent at a later stage.

Three-page summary/compact paper will be printed, in a CD-formatted
proceedings, and will be available at the symposium for quick
dissemination of your research. The optional full-length papers are
published in the International Journal of Plasticity after the standard
peer review process and acceptance. This journal has the highest impact
factor among all solid mechanics journals (4.029 in 2005). Please see
the following website for journal details at:

Please also check following websites for details and pictures.

Needless to say that the location is extremely pretty and scenic, good
location to talk about our exciting results and for our families to have
a vacation while we are entangled in exciting areas of plasticity.

With best regards and wishes,

Yours sincerely,

C. Agelet de Saracibar and J.P. Ponthot

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM A. KHAN:

PLASTICITY 2008, Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, Kailua/Kona
(Big Island of Hawaii) January 3-8, 2008

The 14th International Symposium on Plasticity will be held in beautiful
the Big Island of Hawaii, from January 3-8, 2008. This Symposium series
is the prime forum for plasticity research dissemination as usually more
than 400 scientists from around the world participate in this
conference. The symposium will focus on multi-scale computational
plasticity, plasticity of emerging materials (nanocrystalline solids,
thin films, biomaterials, polymers etc.) and micro mechanics of plastic
deformation and texture evolution, including materials science aspects,
metal forming, and elastic-plastic damage mechanics. However,
presentations in any area of plasticity will be welcomed, especially
experimental and materials science studies related to plastic
deformation. Thus topics of interest include plastic and viscoplastic
behaviors of single crystals and polycrystalline metals, nanocrystalline
metals, thin films, biomaterials, ceramics, ice, rocks and soils,
composite materials and polymers, as well as plasticity aspects of
damage, failure and fracture mechanics. Symposium presentations must be
original unpublished research related to experimental, numerical or
theoretical analyses of the inelastic behavior of solids subjected to
quasi-static, dynamic or cyclic thermo-mechanical loading.

A three-page summary/compact paper will be printed in a CD proceedings
and available at the symposium for quick dissemination of your research.
The optional full-length papers are published in the International
Journal of Plasticity after the standard peer review process and
acceptance, for archival reference. The journal has the highest impact
factor among all solid mechanics journals in 2002, 2004 & 2005. Please
see the internet for the journal details at:

www.elsevier.com/locate/ijplas/

The full-length papers should be submitted for publication consideration
anytime from six months before to six months after the symposium. We
expect this symposium to be as outstanding, both technically and
socially, as its predecessors, including the one in Whistler (July
2000), Aruba (Jan. 2002), Quebec City (July 2003), Kauai (January 2005),
Halifax (July 2006) and Alyeska Resort south of Anchorage (June 2007).

THE LOCATION AND HOTEL

The symposium will be held at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort,
Kailua-Kona (Big Island of Hawaii). See details at:

http://www.sheratonkeauhou.com/

Kona airport has direct flights from major US, Canadian and European
cities, and connections through Los Angeles, San Francisco & Chicago. A
block of rooms has been set aside at a very special rate (single or
double $ 150 for mountain view, $ 165 for partial ocean view or $ 180
for ocean view rooms, per night, plus tax), even for this peak season;
the regular rate is more than double of the symposium rate. More
information will be provided for reservation after we receive your
acceptance.
Hawaii in general, and Keauhou Bay area of Kona in particular, is famous
for its unspoiled natural beauty.

PRESENTATIONS AND REGISTRATION FEE

Invited presentations will be allotted 20 minutes. All
presentations, including invited lectures, must contain a significant
amount of unpublished results. Computer projectors will be
available for your presentation.

A registration form for registration fees and mailing information will
be sent later. Please send a line indicating your interest as soon as
possible, preferably by return e-mail to khan en umbc.edu and
symposium en neat-plasticity.com.

Kindly follow the deadlines given below.
