Dear Colleagues

Following the very successful Conferences in Munich, Genova, Stockholm,
Metz, Thessaloniki and Budapest, the 7th EUROMECH Solid Mechanics Conference
( <http://www.dem.ist.utl.pt/esmc2009> ESMC2009) will be held at Instituto
Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal, under the auspices of European Mechanics
Society ( <http://www.euromech.org/> EUROMECH), during September 7-11, 2009.
The purpose of this Conference is to provide opportunities for scientists
and engineers to meet and to discuss current research, new concepts and
ideas and establish opportunities for future collaborations in all aspects
of Solid Mechanics.

We invite you to participate in this Conference and to contribute to any
topic, or mini-symposium, of your scientific interest. We also welcome
proposals for the organization of mini-symposia.

The topics for this congress have been organized into seven main areas: (1)
Continuum Mechanics; (2) Material Mechanics; (3) Structural Mechanics; (4)
Dynamics; (5) Experimental Mechanics; (6) Computational Mechanics, and; (7)
Coupled Problems. 

Specialized Mini-Symposia in emergent or interdisciplinary topics will be
organized.

Colleagues who would like to organize mini-symposia in specialized, emergent
or interdisciplinary topics are invited to contact the Conference chairman
by June 1, 2008.

Authors wishing to contribute to the conference are invited to submit a
two-page abstract. The conference publication will include only the accepted
abstracts and no full papers will be required. However, organizers of
invited symposia and special sessions may invite contributors to deliver
full length papers to be reviewed, and if accepted, published in special
issues of international journals.
