[NotiAMCA] "Zienkiewicz Scholarship" para doutorado na Universidade de Swansea

Caros Colegas,

Foi instituida bem recentemente a "Zienkiewicz Scholarship" (em homenagem ao
falecido Prof Zienkiewicz) exclusivamente para custeio do doutoramento de
alunos estrangeiros na Escola de Engenharia da Universidade de Swansea. A
primeira rodada na concessao dessas bolsas sera para alunos iniciando seus
estudos em setembro/outubro de 2009 (aqueles desejando se candidatar
deverao, portanto, faze-lo o mais rapidamente possivel).

O principal objetivo dessa bolsa e' atrair alunos de grande potencial para
desenvolvimento de pesquisa de qualidade internacional nas varias areas de
atuacao dentro da Escola de Engenharia em Swansea (estas estao listadas no
arquivo em anexo juntamente com as informacoes relativas a candidatura a
bolsa). O valor da mesma e' de £25000/ano por aluno por um maximo de 3 anos
- este valor cobre por completo as taxas escolares e despesas de
manutencao). Pelo que eu saiba, esta e' a primeira vez que uma bolsa dessa
natureza (bolsa integral destinada a alunos de fora da Comunidade Europeia)
e' oferecida em Swansea. Acredito, portanto, que esta e' uma otima
oportunidade para alunos desejando cursar o doutorado no Reino Unido.

Desta forma, ficaria muitissimo grato se os caros colegas pudessem divulgar
essa informacao nas suas respectivas instituicoes.

Em particular, gostaria de solicitar que os candidatos na area de Mecanica
Computacional submetessem o seu "Declaration of Interest" (ver detalhes no
arquivo anexo) diretamente para mim (e.desouzaneto en swansea.ac.uk) o mais
rapido possivel.

Zienkiewicz Scholarship 


The highly prestigious Zienkiewicz Scholarship is only available to 
international students and is reserved only for top calibre students (minimum 
of a First Class Honours Degree equivalent, plus a Masters Degree and IELTS at 
7.0 or equivalent) and awards will be allocated on a competitive basis. 


These are only available for PhDs within the School of Engineering and each 
case will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis with regard to the level of 
award, but all will cover fees and provide a generous stipend. 


Areas of study that are appropriate to the School of Engineering at Swansea 
University include;

• Aerospace Engineering
• Chemical & Biological Process Engineering
• Civil & Computational Engineering
• Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Environmental Engineering
• Materials Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Medical Engineering & Radiation Physics
• Nanotechnology
• Sports Science & Engineering
For those interested in obtaining one of these Scholarships, the first stage is 
to submit a "Declaration of Interest" in the form of a CV, transcripts and a 
short PhD proposal. A panel of top academics within the School will then 
scrutinise the applications and then make a recommendation on whether or not a 
formal application should be made and the level of the award.  Any 
applications made without a "Declaration of Interest" will not be considered 
for the Scholarship.
