      Dear Colleague,

      This is just a quick reminder that the extended deadline to the
Symposium on VIBRATION AND STRUCTURAL ACOUSTICS ANALYSIS of the IRF'2009:
3rd International Conference on Integrity, Reliability and Failure in Porto
next July is quickly approaching (20th March 2009).

      The organization is also very pleased to announce that the response to
the Call for Abstracts has been overwhelming. So far nearly 30 Abstracts have
been submitted to the Symposium on Vibration and Structural Acoustics
Analysis.

      If you have already submitted your contribution, you shortly will be
notified about the acceptance of your paper(s). If not, you are still on
time, and the organization looks forward to receiving a contribution from you
to IRF'2009 in July 2009 in Porto, to what promises to be a great event.

      With my best personal regards,

      Cesar M. A. Vasques.

      P.S.: We would appreciate if you could distribute this information by
your colleagues and co-workers.

      (Apologies for cross- and multiple-postings)

      Dear colleagues,

      On behalf of the Organizing Committee we have the pleasure to announce a
symposium on

      Papers are solicited in the following and related areas:

      –    vibration analysis;

      –    analytical and computational structural acoustics and vibration;

      –    material systems and technologies for noise and vibration control;

      –    passive/semi-active/active control techniques;

      –    piezoelectric and viscoelastic damping technologies;

      –    shape/position and fluid flow control;

      –    nonlinear dynamics and vibrations;

      –    vibration-based structural health monitoring/evaluation and damage
prognosis;

      –    machinery noise/vibration and diagnostics;

      –    reciprocating machinery and rotor dynamics;

      –    experimental testing in vibration and structural acoustics;

      –    experimental modal analysis;

      –    modeling of the dynamics and damping of complex systems;

      –    noise and vibration on high-speed trains and railways;

      –    structural and musical vibro‑acoustics;

      – applications and case studies in structural acoustics and
vibration.

      Extended Abstracts are due by 20 March 2009 (extended deadline), and
those accepted will appear in a book which will be made available to
delegates of IRF’2009 during the event. Full papers will also be compiled in
a CD-ROM and selected papers will be considered for publication in a number
of scientific journals of international reputation.

      The Extended Abstracts must not exceed two pages and should be written
in the same format as the full papers for the CD-ROM (no limitation in length
for these). A sample abstract is available for download (sample abstract) and
further instructions on formatting are available at the conference website
and in the IRF’2009 Symposium Call for Papers (PDF file).

      Please refer to the conference website (IRF’2009) for further
information on the registration, program, symposia, hotels and social
program.
