View English versionEstimado autor:Nos complace comunicarle que a partir de Julio de 2017 la Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos en Ingeniería (RIMNI) pasará a publicarse en formato Open Access en la plataforma Scipedia (https://www.scipedia.com). Scipedia es una nueva iniciativa promovida por CIMNE, para impulsar la publicación Open Access. Con esta iniciativa esperamos garantizar la supervivencia de la revista y aumentar su prestigio, difusión e impacto.Puede verse una breve presentación de las capacidades de Scipedia en https://goo.gl/XNfjQb y en la propia web.Una de las principales ventajas que ofrece Scipedia para RIMNI es la de poder gestionar cada artículo a partir del formato original del documento (Word, Latex o Google Docs). Pero los artículos también pueden editarse online (wikitext) para incluir en ellos texto, vídeos, presentaciones, archivos de datos, modelos, etc. A partir de los documentos publicados se pueden generar automáticamente copias en PDF o en formato EPUB para libros electrónicos.Por otro lado, los artículos pueden ser comentados y puntuados por sus lectores, lo que irá construyendo un ranking de su “popularidad”, así como incrementando el “prestigio” del autor y los comentaristas.Otra innovación destacable en la nueva propuesta es que la revisión de los artículos se hará por un grupo de evaluadores, escogidos de un Panel de Evaluadores, seleccionados automáticamente en función de su área de especialidad y la del artículo. Cada posible evaluador seleccionado podrá evaluar el artículo y para ello tendrá que tomar una acción positiva al respecto dentro de Scipedia. A partir de ese momento se abrirá un diálogo entre los revisores y el autor. Este diálogo será transparente para el autor y todos los evaluadores implicados, cuyos nombres permanecerán anónimos. El artículo se aceptará o rechazará cuando un mínimo de revisores así lo determine, en función de una serie de pesos relativos al “prestigio” de cada revisor. Dicho prestigio variará en función de la actividad del revisor en el proceso de evaluación y otras actividades para las que se requiera su colaboración con la revista.Naturalmente, los Editores de RIMNI podrán intervenir para corregir situaciones conflictivas y garantizar que todos los artículos sean evaluados. Este método de evaluación ya se usa en diversas revistas Open Access y persigue implicar más a la comunidad científica relacionada con la Revista, además de automatizar el procedimiento de evaluación, manteniendo los parámetros de rigor y calidad.Sumado a lo anterior, se continuará con la posibilidad de escribir los artículos en español, portugués o inglés y con el cobro de una cantidad mínima por publicar para cubrir los gastos de gestión de la revista. Esa cantidad se mantiene en los 700 Euros por artículo. Estamos buscando la forma de cofinanciar este coste de manera que pueda reducirse.Desde luego RIMNI continuaría indexada en las bases de datos de la Web of Knowledge y, por tanto, formaría parte de las revistas indexadas en el JCR. En ese sentido aprovechamos para informarle que el factor de Impacto de RIMNI en 2016 ha sido de 0.431, cifra que duplica el FI del año anterior.Como antiguo autor de RIMNI le animamos a que cree su perfil en Scipedia y conozca las capacidades de esta plataforma y la utilice en la forma que más le sea útil. Ha de saber que puede añadir sus artículos ya publicados en RIMNI a su perfil en Scipedia, pulsando el “CLAIM AUTHORSHIP” de la página del artículo. English version / Versión en InglésDear author:I am pleased to inform you that from July 2017 onwards the Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería (RIMNI) will be published in Open Access format on the Scipedia platform (https://www.scipedia.com). Scipedia is a new initiative promoted by CIMNE, to promote the Open Access publication. With this initiative we hope to ensure the journal's survival and increase its prestige, diffusion and impact.You can see a brief presentation of the capabilities of Scipedia at https://goo.gl/XNfjQb and on the web itself.One of the main advantages offered by Scipedia for RIMNI is that it can manage each article from the original document format (Word, Latex or Google Docs). But articles can also be edited online (wikitext) to include text, videos, presentations, data files, models, etc. Copies in PDF or EPUB (eBook) formats can be automatically generated.On the other hand, articles can be commented and punctuated by their readers, which will build a ranking of their "popularity", as well as increasing the "prestige" of the author and commentators.Another innovation in the new proposal is that the review of the articles will be done by a group of persons chosen from a Panel of Reviewers, automatically pre-selected according to their area of expertise and that of the article. Each possible evaluator selected will be able to evaluate the article and for this he/she will have to take a positive action in this regard within Scipedia. From that moment a dialogue will be opened between the reviewer(s) and the author. This dialogue will be transparent to the author and all the reviewers involved, whose names will remain anonymous. The article will be accepted or rejected when a minimum of reviewers so determine, depending on a series of weights related to the "prestige" of each reviewer. This prestige will vary depending on the activity of the reviewer in the evaluation process and other activities for which his / her collaboration with the journal is required.Naturally, the Editors of RIMNI will be able to intervene to correct conflicting situations and ensure that all articles are reviewed. This review procedure is already used in several Open Access journals and aims to involve more the scientific community related to the journal, besides automating the evaluation procedure, while maintaining the parameters of rigor and quality.In addition to the above, the possibility of writing articles in Spanish, Portuguese or English will continue. A fee of 700 eur per article will still be charged to cover the costs of managing the journal. We are looking at ways of co-financing this cost so that it can be reduced.Of course RIMNI would continue to be indexed in the databases of the Web of Knowledge and, therefore, would be part of the journals indexed in the JCR. In that sense, I would like to inform you that the impact factor (IF) of RIMNI in 2016 was 0.431, a number that doubles the IF of the previous year.As a former author of RIMNI we encourage you to sign up at Scipedia and learn the capabilities of the platform and to use it in the way that is most useful to you.
