Análisis Numérico del Algoritmo Quickest
Abstract
The QUICKEST algorithm, which is a four-point explicit numerical scheme, is applied to the unidirectional advectiondispersion equation. In this work, the stability and numeric dispersion of the scheme is analyzed. It is demonstrated that the truncation error is of third order. Then, the magnitude of the truncation error is calculated inside the domain of stability, and is compared to other truncation errors of well-known explicit and implicit schemes.
Finally, the QUICKEST algorithm is used to model the transport of a passive substance under non stationary conditions.
The results obtained are compared with an analytic solution as well as with the results generated by the transport model
QUAL2E. The excellent capabilities of the algorithm QUICKEST for the unidirectional simulation of polutant transport in streams is then stablished.
