Hydrodynamic Coefficients Computation: Comparison between Immersed Solid and Body-Fitted Techniques
Keywords:
Finite Element Method, Immersed solid technique, Hydrodynamic coefficients computationAbstract
This study focuses on simulating the flow around cylinders with different cross-sections at low and moderate Reynolds numbers, aiming to compare hydrodynamic coefficients computed with body-fitted and immersed solid finite element techniques. In particular, different section including NACA 0012 airfoils are studied and the incidence of the angle of attack on the coefficients is analyzed in detail. The results are compared with those reported in the literature.
