I am delighted to inform you that Dr Carolin Birk has been awarded
the 2008 K.J. Bathe Award for the Best Paper by a Young Researcher in
the Field of Computational Engineering, published in Computers &
Structures. Her paper 'Representation of radiation damping in a dam
reservoir interaction analysis based on a rational stiffness
approximation', Caroline Birk and Peter Ruge, was published in
Computers & Structures, 85, 1152-1163, 2007.

In future, the K.J. Bathe Award will be made every two
years.  Applicants who wish to be considered for the K.J. Bathe Award
in 2010 should submit their paper to Computers & Structures for
publication in the years 2008 or 2009 and they must be under the age
of 40 on January 1, 2010. For further details of the 2010 K.J. Bathe
