Current Interests:

  • Development of some stabilization techniques for CFD compressible and incompressible codes. A unified approach to solve compressible and incompressible flows using finite element.
  • Development of a coupled thermal and turbulent fluid flow code for solidification problems using finite element method, a computational code to predict segregation for binary alloys in continuous casting processes. A turbulent two-phase flow (gas-liquid) application to predict emulsification in the ladle furnace for the steel production
  • Development of a thermodynamics and gas dynamics based model to simulate the performance of spark ignition internal combustion engines, in particular oriented to engine tuning. Optimal cam design for racing cars using multi-body system.
  • Study of numerical simulation for coastal hydrodynamic problems and shallow water.
  • PETSc-FEM, a code for large scale CFD simulation on a Beowulf cluster. (https://cimec.org.ar/petscfem)
  • Development of an application for turbulent compressible and incompressible flow using LES and k-epsilon model in PETSc-FEM code.
  • Development of moving domain CFD applications using ALE strategy. Applications to several fluid-structure interactions, flutter and vortex induced vibrations. Design of novel strategies to solve the mesh dynamics.
  • Development of vehicle aerodynamics CFD application using LES turbulence model
  • Development of a multiphase flow code in PETSc-FEM using a multifluid and an algebraic slip mixture model for bubbly and annular flow in gas liquid systems.
  • Experience in granular flow in gas-solid systems applied to oil refining and piping erosion using CFX and Fluent. Solution of industrial problems.
  • Development of thermo-mechanical models for valves of internal combustion engines. In-cylinder flow simulation of internal combustion engines using ALE to predict tumble, swirl and squish fluid dynamics patterns.
  • Development of vehicle aerodynamics and dynamics interactions using CFD and Bond Graphs.
  • Experience in solving VOF multiphase models using Fluent applied to ship hydrodynamics design.
  • Experience in solving single phase and multiphase flows using openFOAM (pimpleFoam, rhoPimpleFoam, interFoam, interDyMFoam, twoPhaseEulerFoam and many others)
  • Developer and Contributor of Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) (see CIMNE site for details)
  • Developer of ICESym internal combustion engine simulator (http://code.google.com/icesym)
