The development of a pendulum collector for harvesting wave energy requires the characterisation of the waves at the site where the device is to be installed, specifically at the Bahía Blanca Estuary. To this end, a finite element model is proposed to solve the Saint-Venant equations, combined with a spectral wave model, applying the modules Telemac2d and Tomawac of the Telemac-Mascaret system (https://www.opentelemac.org), taking into account the influence of tides and wind on the estuary dynamics. The results are validated with tide and wave records in the study area and will be used to estimate the performance of the collecting device. The activities are carried out in a collaborative manner between the Grupo de Investigación en Multifísica Aplicada, the Consorcio de Gestión del Puerto de Bahía Blanca, and the Centro de Investigación en Métodos Computacionales.
