In this work, a study is presented on different types of impact forces to select the most suitable for energy generation in piezoelectrics. The analysis focuses on choosing between short-duration but repetitive pulses, or long-duration, singular pulses. Simulations show that short-duration, discontinuous pulses induce oscillations in the piezoelectric material that do not appear with long-duration, continuous pulses. By implementing a synchronous charge extraction circuit, these oscillations can be harnessed to maximize harvested energy. An energy-based index concludes that the force from discontinuous pulses generates twice as much energy as a single continuous pulse.
